Looking for the best way to store shoes in your closet? Try a Closets by Liberty™ system! You can choose from one of our 3- to 11-foot systems, then customize to fit your storage needs.

Here are a few versatile shoe storage tips that make a big impact no matter your space or style.

Don’t: Use Wire Shelves

Wire shelves may seem like a cheaper alternative to flat shelves. However, shoes with a sharp edge, such as heels or boots, could get stuck within the wires. Not only is this annoying, but this could also scuff your shoes.

Do: Use Shoe Racks for Your Closet

Our Pull Out Shoe Storage is a better option than wiring shelving—and the easiest way to create a shoe tower within your Closets by Liberty™ system. Plus, it neatly displays all your options so you don’t have to spend too much time looking for them.

The shoe rack is made from strong, durable steel to support up to 60 lbs., making it a must-have accessory for any shoe lover. Here are more reasons you’ll want to add this shoe storage to your system:

  1. The extendable rack allows you to easily reach your shoes.
  2. You can stadium stack your shoes with space-saving rotational bars.
  3. The built-in shelf clips add extra shelf stability.

Bonus Do: Place Shoes on Flat Shelving

Solid, flat shelves are a great alternative to shoe racks if you’d rather have a stable surface to securely store your shoes. They are also a perfect option if you prefer to store any of your shoes in their original boxes.

Our solid 24″ Shelves are built from durable wood with a smooth white finish that looks great in any closet.

Don’t: Use Bins or Baskets

Are you digging through disorganized shoe bins at the bottom of your closet? Shoe bins aren’t the most efficient way to store shoes for a few reasons:

  1. You might accidentally damage and scuff shoes by trying to pack all of them in a small space.
  2. You’ll spend extra time trying to sort through the shoe bin and find the matching shoe.
  3. Shoe bins take up a lot of space.

Ditch bins or baskets for a shoe tower that conveniently displays all your options.

Do: Use Adjustable Shoe Racks or Shelves

No matter which size system you choose, your new closet storage will be divided into towers. Consider dedicating one tower solely to shoes. You can do this by moving all of the racks or shelves to the left or right so that they are all aligned.

Decide you want to move all your shoes to a different tower? No problem. Our adjustable shoe storage and shelving allow you to change the way you store your shoes whenever you see fit. That way, if you think of something better, then you can always rearrange.

You can even raise and lower the heights of our adjustable shoe storage and shelves to accommodate high heels or tall boots. No tools needed!

Shoe storage was also a priority and we maximized one section with all shelves, totaling twenty linear feet! (20 feet includes using the top shelf and floor space).

Don’t: Display All Shoes at Once

Displaying your entire shoe collection at once can take up a lot of your storage space. Many shoes aren’t a year-round style that needs to be easily accessed. Take the time to sort through your shoes and decide which are seasonal and which, like your sneakers, you’ll likely wear all year.

Do: Reorganize to Fit The Season

As the seasons change, it’s a great time to reevaluate your shoe storage. In the fall, you can bring down the winter boots and put away the summer flip flops. Then in the spring, you can reorganize and rearrange your collection again!

If you decide that you need more storage, you can always purchase our Pull Out Shoe Storage or additional shelves individually to add to your Closets by Liberty™ system.

“I really love the added space at the top which we could organize all of our seasonal shoes. I am SHOCKED at the before and after pictures and hope that a 4-foot system will be available for our other closets!”
